We are feeding them rice grains since five years. They also feed on ants, insects and flowers. They used to build nests in between rocks and shrubs in the empty plots nearby. At first 15-20 were seen but now only 6 are found.

Mithun B Adiga - Bangalore International Airport Bengaluru International Airport Bangalore Karnataka

Every time I got to Bangalore airport I make it a point to arrive early to airport and watch them fly and squeak around the airport. I always wonder why they are seen in large number only here and not in Bangalore city.

FARHAT AMNA RIZVI - new hauz rani , near jahanpanah masjid Hauz Rani, Malviya Nagar New Delhi Delhi

We live in New Huaz Rani area of Malviya Nagar since 1997, a very densely populated area. And since then we have observed many House Sparrows chirping on a tree just in front of our building.
Being an environment lover I have made a small balcony garden in my flat of around 100 plants. Since the creation of this garden in 1997 , I have always seen around 5-20 sparrows playing here and there in my balcony. I keep water and some food for them too on a daily basis.
The best time is seeing all these birds sitting together on the grill of my balcony during rains :) .

Jaya Verma - South Campus,Delhi University South Campus,Delhi University New Delhi Delhi

We lived in South Campus from 1991 to 2010. The whole campus was full of sparrows. They would fly into the rooms during the summer months and build nests inside the house. We had to often switch off our fans so as not to hurt them. They never hurt the kids who were toddlers at that time nor were they particularly bothered by by the kids crawling around.

One incident really amuses me still. A sparrow had made a nest in the stepne of our scooter. Every time that the scooter was started the 'mom' sparrow flew off the tire and waited patiently on the window for the scooter to return. We got so attached to the sparrow that when the eggs burst and the chicks began to chirp we stopped using the scooter till the birds flew away.
