Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?Vile Parle (E) is a very green area. there are large trees 30 to 40 years old of a great variety. Saying that in my 1.5 years stay i had not seen a sparrow in the locality. I always knew that the high population of crows is the reason why sparrows can not breed in Mumbai. This theory is presented by one of the researcher from BNHS. There are few places in Vile Parle (E) where you will find trees like Babhul, Bor, Imli in which scavengers like crows can not enter and hence they become safe heavens for small birds like sparrows. So I was walking to work 4 to 5 days back i heard chirps i had heard long back when i used to stay in Nashik. I scanned the beautiful bor tree from where the voice was coming and i saw 7 to 8 sparrows on the tree. I was so excited that there are sparrows in Vile parle. Yesterday evening that tree was cut down. If we want to do anything about saving sparrows we need to stop such thing from happening n future.
