| Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | When I was growing up, sparrows used to nest in my house. In the near vicinity I remember there being at-least 4-5 nests (neighbor houses inclusive). However, nowadays most of the small houses have been torn down and replaced with large residential complexes. Although I now live in Dehradun, on every visit home I keep my eye out for sparrows and have not see any recently. I remember that in 1988-89, my aunt, Shylaja Akkaraju was a Masters student at Madras Christian College. She felt that sparrows were declining (even then). So for her Masters thesis she studied sparrows in our neighborhood. I was only about 5 years old but I remember going door to door with her searching old homes for nesting sparrows. |
