5th April 2012. A wonderful bright morning here in Noida. Both male and female sparrows are busy building their nest in my front courtyard. I watched and enjoyed their frantic activities while having my morning tea. Every few minutes both will fly away from the nest and return with thin blades of dry grass for lining their nest. After a while, at around 8 o’clock, I went out for a walk and there was more in store for me! Yearly migration of Large Cabbage White (Pieris brassicae) butterflies was at its peak today. Hordes of them were also seen on roadside purple floss flowers and fowering lantana shrubs. They return to Himalaya in N-W direction before the onset of hot summer season. These are signs of spring in Delhi / Noida area. I don’t think there is any fall in sparrows in Noida despite many mobile towers.
