| Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | Sparrows exist in healthy numbers in my area. They frolic in the bird baths and small pools of water in the evening. They chase insects and feed on them. They are fond of the lawns where they seem to be feeding on insects / seeds. In the evenings the flocks (containing 100s of birds) flock onto a tree and make a huge din in chorus.
Once I observed a sparrow attack and pester a house lizard till it shed its tail . Then the sparrow feasted on the abandoned tail which was still wriggling. Though I have seen this only once ... but it seems like a usual behavior because the bird seemed to know what it was doing . |
