Brahmaputra Hostel, JNU,New Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi Delhi
The sparrows living in this reported area (Brahmaputra Hostel) in the Jawaharlal Nehru Campus, New Delhi make nests and live in and around the hostel premise. They are especially concentrated in the old wing of the hostel neighbouring with canteens there. There nests are built in the crevices of the brick walls, hollow plastic pipes inserted for draining water and iron shutter doors used in the shops of the hostel premise. It is their nesting season and i can see many of them carrying straws and other items for making nests here and there. There are many sparrows living in the JNU campus because of the greenery of the campus, availability of food and nesting places. So far i have located their folks near the canteen behind the central library of the JNU, PSR or Lovers' Point area (especially in the morning for eating grains fed by the those taking morning walks on the ring road of the campus). I am continuing my survey to locate more areas in the campus where sparrows are living.
