| Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | I am very fond of birds, and as a recreational activity I feed the birds and observe them everyday.
The frequency of spotting sparrows has gone down considerably. My neighbours have a large bougainvillea plant that used to nest at least 15-20 sparrows. They used to sit on the high tension wires or telephone lines, and then just like that they vanished. There are other birds here, parakeets, finches, jungle babblers, peacocks, blue rock pigeons, crows, common bulbul, mynahs and even saw a hornbill. But there is always something different about sparrows. Now I rarely get to see any. But few days ago I spotted my first pair in over 3 years. I am glad they are back. I call them chirpy, and each one of them is special. I wish they could all just come back again. |
