Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?Since I live in Chennai (the capital city of Tamil Nadu State) and started missing the sparrows in my area (Tambaram on the outskirts of Chennai) since ealry 2000, I was overjoyed to see the sparrows foraging for food on a busy road in Tiruchendur, a coastal town i Tamil Nadu. Although the place was crowded with pilgrims and vehicles, the sparrows went about picking grain without fear. It was nice to see them that way as it was a decade since I last saw them in my porch trying to build a nest with hay. I can't remember whether there were more males or more females, but one gender dominated the scene. I think sparrows disappeared from from my local market area because, merchants do not transport grains in jute bags these days. Jute bags are know to cause spillage of grains and provided the birds easy access to food.
