| Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | The house I lived was big. It had no ceiling fans. The roof was called 'Bombay terrace' with beams at regular intervals inside the building. The space between beams afforded suitable niche for sparrows to nest. Often, nests used to fall down, along with eggs and young chicks.
The sparrows were so numerous that they would settle in a row, one below the other on the cord of what we call 'yenai'(cradle made of long cloth) in which young children slept. My mother used to put me on duty to shoo away the sparrows (because they made such noise) when my baby brother was in the cradle. |
