| Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | I used to visit my cousin's place in Bhaikakanagar, Thaltej, Ahmedabad almost every summer from 93-2000. Sparrows were found in abundance in their colony. Some sparrows built their nests in the balcony of the house and some would even start building their nests inside the house. They were usually in groups of 4-5 and seemed to have good camaraderie with mynahs, which were in abundance too. Every time one spotted a bird someone would shout - kuruvi, kuruvi! (tamil for 'sparrow') and we would put out grain and little treats for the visitors. It was especially delightful for me as I lived in Hyderabad, a city where I had hardly ever seen sparrows, at least in the main city. |
