Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?I miss the sparrows, and probably over the coming years, will miss my other birds too. I feed birds and squirrels on the terrace. Nothing extraordinary, but love watching them. There was a time around 6 years back, when sparrows would flock every morning, early in the morning, even before I left my bed. The days I missed keeping bajra and rice for them, they would chirp and chirp near my bedroom window, till the time i didn't go out to feed them. Tiny in size but fearless, the pigeons too would make space for them. To avoid being woken up early in the morning on weekends, my son would remind me the previous night to keep rice for them. They would again be back to feed late afternoon at 3-4 pm. But now, only different kinds of pigeons are there, those too, are declining in number. Last October ie 2011, I was so thrilled to see two fat little sparrows feeding on the terace along with pigeons and squirrels. I was glad and really hoping that the earlier days were back. But it did last for more than three days. After that I haven't seen a sparrow. Hope that this summer sparrows will fly back to my terrace.
