I live in a flat in an apartment in Hyderabad and I first noticed House Sparrows in the school next door in 2003. In the past 2-3 years I have been seeing them chirping away at dawn in my own floor. They were attracted to the rangoli designs. Later, I noticed that they were actually partial to rice flour which my neighbour used in her rangoli. This observation inspired me to draw rangoli patterns on my threshold/entrance.
Now I have my winged visitors daily at my door at day break.
They enjoy feasting on the rangoli designs made from pure rice flour!
