I grew up with sparrows around us; nesting in the ventilators in the house. We had a number of small trees/ bushes, a couple of large trees. Our area had a number of trees and open/ grassy soil, so they could go their meals easily. I observed sparrows can not go very long distances to fetch foods, doesn't fit their way of life. Also, there are fear of natural predators, like crows or larger birds. So source of good food must be nearby for their sustenance. Unfortunately, there are little number of trees left here nowadays and no more grass. Earth is either covered by concrete or garbages, soil is heavily contaminated with plastics and rotting foodstuffs, etc. Very hard to live a sparrows life, feeling deeply sorry about them.
