At our organisation, S&P Capital IQ, Hyderabad, in June 2011, we did a project called 'Conservation of House Sparrows' as part of CSR activities. As part of it, we distributed nearly 200 bird feeders and 150 nest boxes for free to interested people. We found that sparrows are making good use of feeders. We also raised awareness to keep clay containers filled with water during summer.
Ironically, i find relatively lot many sparrows thronging the Hyderabad city localities in some areas when compared to some villages i knew where sparrows swarmed those villages once upon a time but disappeared now.
