| Tell us more about yourself | I retired in 2002 and have settled at my ancestoral home in Jaipur. The Compound used to consist of nearly 17 Bighas of trees and garden besides the house. Most of it was sold and the ITC Rajputaja Hotel occupies most of the land. There are 3 bamboo clumps where for ywaer sparrows and other birds have nested . Some years back there was a dramatic decline and they virtually dissappeared. However i put up little wooden bird boxes, old letter boxes, little baskets in the verandhas and bushes and now we have an endless Chirpee chirpee cheep cheep sonata!I give them bajra and jowhar, puffed rice and sometimes crushed nutt bits. They now often join the family dog during his evening meal of Pedigree food. !!!Quite a sight it is.
I work freelance with the SOS Childrens Villages of Rajasthan and also HIS(Help I Suffering) an animal shelter which takes care of street dogs,Camels, peacocks etc.Very fod of wild life and nature(what little remains in this country)! |
