I live in a old residential colony which spread wings in past seven years. Some highrises came into existence. Earlier 2005 and beyond I used to spot many sparrows cooing next to a little tree, a Tagar (a kind of white flower) tree. Since 2005, their presence dwindled. Now I don't see a single sparrow. A few years back, I spotted two came flying and sat for a while on the roof of the house next to us. They left as soon as they came.
