I am Gswapna, very much interested in bird watching. I usually go by walk to the bus stand early morning, around 6:35 to 6:45 am, to the school, as I am working as an agricultural instructor in government higher secondary school, Kancheepuram. Six months back, when I was walking along the streets, I have heard some pleasant sounds. To my surprise, it was sparrows. I could hardly believe my eyes, as I have not seen these sparrows for a very longtime. Yes, it was sparrows only. When I go nearby or closer to them, they sometimes fly fast, or busy searching for food, or flying here and there, or eating any crumbs or left over food. Daily I see them during that time to till date. One Sunday, I went in search of these birds, and I found that these sounds are coming from a nearby Citrus tree, Lemon tree. I went inside the house and asked the residents about these sparrows and they told me that they wake up everyday on hearing these birds' chirping sounds only and no alarm or nothing. These sparrows arrive at about 5'o clock in the morning, and the residents keep some rice grains in their compound wall and in the front portion of their house and a bowl of water is also kept for them. They come and eat everyday. I have taken photos of these birds and also I saw a nest and young birds peeping out of the nests in the lime tree. Nowadays, these sparrows are coming to our house also. I have seen more sparrows nowadays along the 14th streets and adjacent streets.
