Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period? | I am staying in this locality for past 13yrs,i have never counted them (i dont know how to count)but i love them coming in my house.for some yrs during my children growing and taking max. of my time,i did not realise thier presence or absence.Last year while passing thro a stressful period,i remembered that sparrows visit houses which are happpy and prospering.though i was happy and prospering i wanted to see sparrows visit my house.I learnt from news and national channel that my 13yr old usually views that they were towards a decline. They would lay eggs at my grannys house when i was young (10-13yrs)and then this last year i just wanted to save them,for my memories and my children to see this beautiful bird.
i got a small bird house put at my window which has ample shadow and sunlight,i put small grains for it and kept water too,i started visiting my window every 1/2 hr to see if any sparrow came,BUT a large mouse started vising it and left some food bits and shit in it.Then in my kids bedroom with a broad windowsill i started keeping water and grains,they still would not come.When i was really saddened my daughter showed a tiny nest at the corner of the window,we could hear the chirping of the young ones and then they flew.My society entrance has 4-5 sparrows living in the window of a vacant gr.floor flat.They frequently make thier nest there.I have bought two broad water pots and hung them on the windows hoping they will drink,take cool bath.
Please tell me how to take better care.
I and my daughter are planning to motivate atleast 50 more people to help these birds,by providing a hanging pan for free in thier windows and keeping clean water.
I am making a chart for my daughters school board saying SAVE THE SPARROW.
