I have already shared my observation to this portal, but I have been asked in a recent mail why I have not shared/contributed anything.So I thought of mentioning it again.
I hearing sparrows, seems to be many in number, chirping from a tree within our society complex early in the morning,at 4-30 am to be precise. The sparrows do not leave the trees though it may be they fly from a branch to another.In the evening also, around the time of sunset, the same phenomenon is noticed. I have noticed this phenomenon in Borivli,in Mumbai also. I remember even as a child, till 1963/64, I saw/heard the same chirping of sparrows inthe evening,till it used to be dark, on a banian tree near our house in central Kolkata.
Sparrows used to build nests in our premises in central kolkata in the fifties through seventies. Now I do not know what happens, as I have changed my residence.In Kasba,Kolkata, where I live since 1992,sparrows have been visible but I do not remember to have seen their nests.In last few years a sparrow nest we can see from our balcony inside a cable tv box fitted on an electric pole. We presume that the sparrows have made a nest there because these go inside it sometime and remain there.
Chirping of sparrows can be heard from our flat through out the day, in the morning,during scorching noon& afternoon.We frequently see them mating also.
