NAKUL KARLE -
KDMC Municipal Hospital area Shastri Nagar, Dombivli West Dombivli Maharashtra
I am lucky enough that in this area there are plenty of sparrows, even though there seems some decline in their population, but still we are lucky n happy that every day we do hear their chirping. Often we see them sitting on the branch of trees, wires, grills of houses, etc.
My experience is very good. Every day I do keep water n grains for them. Some time it takes them the whole day to finish those stuff, or else they finishes that within 1 hour or so. At times I have observed as many as 20-25 sparrows sitting on the grill of my house n chirping. I do feed them 2-3 times a day. N guess what, when there is nothing to eat n drink, they chirping is much much louder as though telling me that they are here n want some thing to eat n drink.
But I admit, there is a decline in there population. When I was a small kid, I do remember there use to be many many sparrows in our locality. Now at present they are comparatively less.
Nowadays there nests are also seen a bit rarely, n I think its because of modernization of our living. Earlier there use to be those wooden windows, sparrows use to find it very easy to built up the nest there. But nowadays we use those sliding windows n all, hence its very difficult for them to built there nest.
