Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?I have been living here for the past two years. When I moved here as a decoration piece for my balcony I places a wooden bird house on the wall. To my surprise a few days after a sparrow visited and investigated the bird house on a daily basis. After around a week she started building her nest inside the bird house. The first sets of babies were two sparrows. I used to watch everyday click photographs and even started keeping food and water. The babies grew up and flew away followed by another set of eggs in the coming months. Our area is also inhabited with pigeons who are a menace not only do they dirty the area but also harm the sparrows. One time a pigeon pulled the babies out of the nest and they fell down but the plants in my balcony probably cushioned they fall and they survived. I picked them up with a piece of paper and put them back in the birdhouse where they grew up and flew away. After this incident for a few months the sparrows would visit every day but not lay eggs in the birdhouse instead they started using small hole in the ceiling in the balcony. I'v tried to shoo the pigeons away and prevent them from laying eggs in my flower pots. Recently I have noticed two sets of sparrow families one in the bird house and the other in the opening in the ceiling. They are nest building and are a regular visitor to my balcony. In a time where sparrows have become a rarity I am very happy to have these little ones as a part of my extended family.
