Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?Mr Sharad Chandra Verama reports two important matters , leading to reduction of sparrow population in Bastar. 1.Local triblas have developed a misconception recently that the flesh of sparrows has Aphrodisiac properties, so they are killing these birds on large scale, everywhere, and eating them. However there appears to be no scientific base for it and this practice needs to be stopped by education through different medias. I have given an eloborate talk on On ZEE Tv on this sublect. 2,Govt has established good number of Silk centres in state, many are in Bastar. In these centre , caterpillars are let loose in open area , on trees for feeding. Birds feed on them.It is learnt that the Silk Centre staff encourages the locals to kill birds to minimise the killing of caterpillars, Locals are indulged in this mal -practice.
