Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?I have a love for house sparrows from my childhood days... when I was about 5-6 years old, one afternoon, me&my mom woke up from a short nap just to find ourselves stained with blood, because a sparrow accidentally got cut by the revolving wings of the ceiling fan, in the room. But since that day, we made every effort to protect these birds. I remember how we would leave cleaning an area where the sparrows would make their nest, so as to let them live undisturbed. Occasionally now, after stormy evenings, my dog discovers injured birds on the way side, and I pick 'em up, carry 'em home. My mom happily starts caring for them, feeding and cleaning their wounds. Though we are not bird specialists, but by her love she has healed a few birds (though some have even died). Reecntly, since past 2 years, I was amazed& very glad to see a few house sparrows, "our long lost friends", in the place i could least expect at- the eatery at Departure Zone of Bengaluru Airport. I want to do all that i can to save this species from extinction! my kids must know what house sparrows are like!
