Q11. Would you like to share a story about House Sparrows from this time period?Hi ! I have a bird feeder and had got it operational by enticing sparrows to eat from the bird feeder. This was last february -2011. There were about 2-3 sparrows initially after around 8 months in Oct 11' there were around 10-12 sparrows visiting daily..chirping and enjoying...this year in february there was again a decrease to around 3-4. Now a days there are 3-4 nos. Its a bit saddening to note the decrease ....( not sure if it is because of change in season ) Currently the house is under renovation but the sparrows come regularly. The bird feeder has attracted the sparrows and if lots of people are taught how to use it.. sparrows will not have to leave the city. The problem is two fold ...people buy bird feeders i am sure...but the problem is how to entice the sparrow to eat from the feeder. Our bird feeder was idle for 2years as i just did not know how to get the birds to feed from it ..initially i tried for a day or two and then gave up..tried again after 2 years ....it took me more than a fortnight to get the first sparrow to understand how to eat from it. The piegons learn faster ..but are very messy ...just like the crow who learns from the piegons...copycat bird. Second issue is availability of the bird feeder ...we luckily got ours from US where it is easily available ..its made in China for sure...not sure where we can get one in India....might just start my own manufacturing if u guys support !!!!
