Kodur Village and Surroundings Kodur Village Nellore Andhra Pradesh
Currently I work in Hyderabad (since 6 years). I am from a village called Kodur (18kms from Nellore city, AP). During my school days (in early 90's), I used to see lot of sparrows and I also used to build small homes (with cardboards by hanging them inside my house) for the sparrows to breed. No doubt they are completely extinct now-a-days in our village. I can clearly say that since 2004 I have been observing that I couldn't see even 1 bird during my regular visits to my village. If you visit my village, you guys will definitely love the sounds of various birds (from 5.30pm to 7pm), every eve. But I was terribly disappointed that I couldn't see even 1 sparrow at my village. I love birds and animals and I am also a nature photographer apart from being a professional in a MNC. But I was/am very surprised/happy to see lots of sparrows (around 50-100 in number) here in Hyderabad (Miyapur). I also thought of capturing them and leave them in our village, which I later realized as incorrect deed. Even here I keep feeding them with rice and always keep 1 bowl of water for them. Atleast 5 or 6 birds keep making regular visits to my house (early morning btw 6.30am-8am). And finally I hope you people will remove the word "EXTINCT" of these brids from our village. Good to see you guys. All the best.
