SUDHIR KUMAR - Village Ismailpur Haryana Haryana

As, I mentioned during the period 2000-04, A large number of sparrows were seen in this village. But from 2005-09, the situation changed. Mobile revolution began from 2004-05 and began the countdown of sparrows. The new houses were built in the village and people left their open air houses.New houses were close and there was no space for the sparrows to build their nests.People used to feed the sparrows by throwing grains(wheat and millet) on their roofs.I used to find often my parents fighting with the nests in the house and keeping them out of the house. If this negative effect of mobile revolution would have been found earlier, this loss could be prevented. But now, as I think there is no way to get back those days.

SUDHIR KUMAR - Village Ismailpur Ismailpur Village Jhajjar Haryana

I used to live in this village(Ismailpur) during the time period I mentioned above(1995-1999). When I used to wake up in the morning , It is only due to the chirping of sparrows. A large group of sparrows(50-150) used to come in the courtyard and that because of my Grandmother's practices. She used to feed grains to the sparrows.I always saw them drinking water from a pot kept there by my Grandma with fresh water.Whenever I tried to catch them, they flew away from me and came down 1-2 meters ahead. I saw the sparrows making nests there and hatching eggs in the nests. That time, our old ancestors used to worship them. But now the situation has changed. Our parents hate them and don't want them to make nests in our homes or feed them. As the mobile revolution came, the decline in numbers of sparrows seen is more drastic. And now, when I see , I can see only 3-10 sparrows, just looking for the place where their nests can survive.
