Dr. Faiza Abbasi -
Aligarh Aligarh Aligarh Uttar Pradesh
This place where i used to observe sparrows with my students of Wild Life Sciences was a country dhaba near the Law Faculty AMU on the road leading to AMU Fort. Now this little tea house by the road side is very basic and actually exists on land encroached from a Muslim graveyard. As usual this graveyard has some trees - in this case thorny short trees with little foliage. Must be one of Acacia and its allies. We saw flocks of sparrows whirring from ground to branches together. The group comprised male and female individuals. Some bank mynas were also seen there feeding on the discarded food of the tea house. However the sparrows maintained their distance from the dirt and grime mynas fed upon.
