Aravalli Bio Diversity Park Biodiversity Park NEW DELHI NATIONAL CAPITAL TERRITORY OF DELHI
Yesterday, 17 December 2017, I saw sparrows when I visited an area near, within 500 metres of Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Vasant Kunj.
It's been many years since we sighted sparrows in C9 colony in Vasant Kunj. Does that not worry anyone? Vasant Kunj is far better than other places in Delhi, and Gurgaon. Let us keep it that way. Life is a journey from seeing is believing to believing is seeing.

Thousands of birds, dogs and other animals, such as monkeys that about in Vasant Kunj, coming from the surrounding Ridge area, die out fear and accident during Diwali.
Spare a thought for those who cannot speak up.
Please do not use loud and explosive firecrackers this Diwali.

In Vasant Kunj, and generally in Delhi, I have stopped seeing sparrows and swallows. Maybe pigeons are hardier, so have survived.
Many years back, we had hired a driver to drive us outside of Delhi to attend a function. While crossing Dhaula Kuan flyover, to my horror, the driver ran my car over a mynah hopping on the flyover!!! The fact that a mynah appeared from nowhere, onto the flyover, itself shows how much man has expanded into open spaces. While I winced at what had happened, the driver didn't even flinch. When I reprimanded him, he merely said, "uski kismat!" His 'kismat' will also catch up with him!
Where will all this mindless and insensitive development, where mass produced, lead to, when our biodiversity has less than halved in the last 40 years?!!?
On World Sparrow Day today, let us heed the chirping of the sparrow to remind ourselves that man's greed is killing us and we need to slow down and introspect on our actions in paving and concretising every space that nature has given us!

The problem is acute due to the common man's obsession with his species! See the numbers on networking sites such as Facebook and you would get an idea how man is suffering information overload with respect to himself along with attention deficiency for other living beings who have inherited this planet. The humble insect who is part of the bird's food chain, and the fauna that provide her a habit are fast disappearing due to excessive concretisation and paving in pursuance of man's obsession with laying claim to all available land. Man should go down in the food chain to increase his longevity and restore the balance in nature.
