Well it is more than heartening to mention that fortunately, the area in which I reside sees a lot of these chirpy birds. Not just the sparrows, other vibrant creatures like Kingfishers, Parrots, Pigeons aren't a rare sight either. One highlight of this fact is that the number has definitely gone down over the years, but it's still not the end.
It is very often that I see sparrows coming inside my home and feeding on little grains that they find on the kitchen top. It indeed is a pleasing sight.
The future looks bleak, but we can look forward to something better by taking steps on an individual level.
