I have a small open area near my bedroom.I usually have my breakfast and lunch in my bed room.one day my father noticed that during our breakfast time few birds use to sit on the boundry wall of open area. So he took some pieces of bread and place them near the wall. within 30mins 1 sparrow came to eat those pieces but only once. we were happy to see that 1 sparrow. from that day we started keeping some foodgrains, pieces of chapati and small part from whatever we eat everyday, we also kept some water for them. within 2 weeks the no. of birds increased to near about 5 and their visits were about 3-5 per day.
Soon we noticed that a pair of sparrow were preparing nest at our bathroom ventilation opening which is at a distance about 20-25feet away from the open area.
Its been approx 8 yrs and still those birds live in the same nest and today the no. of birds increased to 4-6 birds in summer and 5-8 birds during winters and their visits are lot more than previous.
