C-Block Sector 41 NOIDA Uttar Pradesh
The house adjoining mine had a garden full of small bushes and dense creepers, which climbed over the fence and peeped into my house. This dense canopy was a favourite of 4-5 sparrows, chirping around everyday in my garden. Seeing this, I started keeping water and grains for them regularly. And soon their number swelled to around 40 sparrows! I even clicked their photos regularly (I wish this survey gave an option to upload pics of sparrows in our locality). The sparrows also made a nest in a small crevice between the outer walls of my house.
But one day, the neighbour cut all those creepers and bushes which provided canopy to the sparrows. Their favourite spot to hang around all day, was no more. And immediately, I saw a marked decrease in the number of sparrows in the area. I continued to keep food and water for them, but now I see only 5-6 sparrows in and around my garden. Thankfully, their nest in the crevice of my house walls is still there, inhabited by a couple of sparrows. I hope the creepers will grow again, and this place will once again reverberate with sparrow chirps...
