I have large no. of potted plants on my roof. When new shoots sprout I try to protect them by covering with net. One afternoon I observed a female sparrow dive vertically down and enter through the net to attack the new shoots. On seeing me it attempted to fly away. After several attempts it succeeded to get through and fly away. I thought it was a desperate move for food.
The group on my roof come in numbers of 10/12 birds. One peculiarity I observed is that there are more males in the group than females. Smaller numbers rest in the afternoon on my window grills.
