Our house in Mugalur Mugalur Village Krishnagiri Tamil Nadu
After the irrigation of paddy field stopped for acute shortage of water, the sparrows became zero in our house. We were very much bothered because of this as their chirping noise was no more. From 4-5 years, we put rice on the floor and slowly sparrows started increasing. They increased in number and started making nest in the house. It is very nice to see them get up early morning by 6 and come out of its nest. It go out and visit the house once every couple of hours, eat those grains and again go out. By 5.30 or 6 in the evening, the will come from outside and go to its nest.

In the time period mentioned above, I was studying in 4th standard and the place mentioned is our house. Ours is an agricultural family. Every time there used to be plenty sacks of grains stacked in the center of the house. There is opening in the center of our tiled house and sparrows used to live here feeding on it. They made nests in the small holes in the roof. There were at least 8-10 nests. Many times, the little sparrows learning to fly will be seen on the floor. Using ladder, we were placing back in its next.
Then from 2000, draught period started and from then, rains were poor and local ponds remained dry. There were no sacks of grains in the house now and sparrows too. And there were many other factors which are responsible for its decline.
