i moved to this area in 2005, not a single sparrow was visible, but in the year 2010, suddenly the house sparrow made its appearance and now they are seen in large numbers. we have a lot of ficus benjenia green trees around our area and in the evening hundreds of sparrows are seen chirping and resting on these trees. during daytime they are seen frequently perching in our balconies and chajjas looking for food, though the pigeons give then a lot of competition for food, but there numbers are increasing day by day. further i feel that the development of a huge park in our area may also have contributed to the increase in sparrow population. they have recently started making nests in small holes, chimney exhaust pipes, pipe shafts etc
