I have lived in this plot of land for the past 20 years and till a week ago had not seen House-Sparrows in my compound. In the compound adjoining mine, I have often, over the years seen House-Sparrows nesting behind lamp shades in an open verandah and also in a small wall entrance mirror with a stand.
Just about a week ago around 3 pairs of House-Sparrows arrived at my home and every morning I see them flying into my garage, sitting on the phone wires and flying into a Chameli vine and also a Bougainvillea creeper on my porch. I have not seen a nest yet. I have hung 2 Sparrow boxes which I got from Nature Forever Society in Nashik but the Sparrows have not discovered them yet. Hoping that the Sparrows will make my home a permanent nesting spot and we will have more and more of them every where.
