The sparrows i am reporting about actually stay in the front balcony of my apartment dwelling. I have built an iron grill (box type) with a two feet slant roof for rain water in the second floor balcony. Three years back a pair of sparrows tried building a nest with green grass and they failed. After a few months a nest was made, and i remember one baby sparrow fell and died. I tried to help by placing a mat made of jute on the top of the grill below the plastic sheet, and i reversed and dangled a hat made of dried pine leaves to the grill. Two years back, the sparrows made a nest next to the jute mat, but did not use it. They successfully raised a baby. This year after an year of dangling there, sparrows started using the hat and raised a baby, making my whole family happy. We have some potted plants in the balcony and my wife keeps watering plants regularly besides keeping some water and grain for the birds. Nearby our house a few acres of agricultural and fallow lands are there, providing the birds with feeding and hunting grounds. I hope they stay in my balcony as long as we do.
