saw sparrows everyday by the roadside
there was a rice shop with sacks, and the sparrows used to feed from the sacks directly. have a photograph of the same too.

the area had a lot of wooden old houses.

had many families of nesting sparrows in my room. used to wake up early to switch off the fan so that the birds could fly without getting hurt.

this was an old type of window, so we have had sparrows nesting on the ventilator of the windows.

once we even had them nesting on the cup of our fan. the book shelf used to be open, the topmost shelf was again a popular nesting spot.

today my parents tell me that they hardly see sparrows there. they live in the same house. the neighbourbood has changed though, what used to be be a lot of open cultivated rice land is today completely filled with homes.

Pondicherry still does not have many flats, we still have open space around the house, but see sparrows occasionaly today.
