a couple of years ago, there used to be very few sparrows - but then we started placing some grains and water on the balcony... the visits became frequent - of course there was strong competition from crows and pigeons but the sparrows too have been persistent. now there are definitely more in number, they check the balcony/window sill for rice grains, cooked rice, nest-building materials and water every few minutes. sometimes they just keep chirping. we have also seen them bring their young ones and feed them - what an absolutely delightful sight!!!
