I had the impression that sparrows had disappeared from Bangalore. But whenever I visit the Infant Jesus church, I find a few sparrows perching in the dome above. I make it a point to pray for their survival also because man, in his greed for enjoying life to the utomost, has detroyed the little abodes of these chirping sparrows and chased them away. He has created a conflict between birds and mankind, particularly those living in large urban concrete jungles called cities.

Biligiri Rangana Temple, B.R.Hills, Chamarajanagara Dist, Karnataka B R Hills Karnataka
Whenever I visited the ancient temple of Ranganatha Swamy atop the Biligiri Ranganatha Hills I made it a point to watch the sparrows in dozens residing in the temple premises. The temple itself is unique - it is sitting on top of granite precipice with a drop of more than 1000 feet into a dense forest. Chirping Sparrows keep on flying all round the temple area and having nests in the Gopuras of the temple.

Eatery in Cross Road opp: Airtel shop on NS Road Ramachandra Agrahara Mysore Karnataka
A small hotel in this lane caters to the people who work in the shops/offices on this busy Narayana Shastry Street. Whenever I have some food here, I find sparrows chirping and moving around by picking up morsels of grains/food thrown by the hotel workers after cleaning. There is a vacant site full of overgrown shrubs and they are nesting in the lantana shrubs and also on some crevices. I generally make it a point to save some food that I am eating and give it to them and see them happily peck at it.
