Dr. Mallikarjun Karimungi - Manibaug a residential area with mostly individual bunglows Valsad Gujarat

This residential area a rural township has bunglows and the sparrows have adapted to make their nests in the bathroom/ toilet windows/ in the pots kept hanging outside the bunglows after a ritual, or in the bushy trees of the gardens. My residence has 5 nests with almost 9-10 pairs of young ones grown in one and half years of which 2-3 died possibly due to competition among siblings in nest/ accidental falling. The food is not a problem for them as most residents keep grains and water in vessels specifically for bird feeding. Even extra stale food is also kept out at times which is shared by birds and squerrels even. We have seen the sparrows eating the rotis/ papads thrown by children/ may be stale ones. If we cannot conserve them atleast we should not disturb them so as to allow them to adapt. AND THEY PROVE THAT THEY SURVIVE.
