I sit in my house every morning and look across at the building where the 3rd floor house has been lying locked up for the past 1 year. I sip on my "chai" in the morning and look forward to seeing the birds flying across in the cool breeze. There is a family of sparrows, which has been putting grass inside the holes in the wall where the TV cable wires are going into the house. I see the sparrows go in turn by turn and its funny to see the small birds trying to manage a long blade of dry grass hanging from the beak and trying to fly at the same time. But this is a determined lot - I am glad they are. I had assumed that I will never see the sparrows in Pune, but here they are. I have grown up in Delhi, with sparrows as part of our regular growing up routine - we would feed them, keep water for them and they were always a pleasure to have around. I am hopeful that the family of sparrows like it here and decide to settle in. They are definitely good neighbors !
