Vijaya Rao - Inderpuri, Residential Colony Hill Side Rd, Pusa New Delhi Delhi

This was a period when I saw many sparrow nests in every possible place that I could think of in the vicinity. The ventillation window near the ceiling in my bathroom was their favourite place to nest every season. Unfortunately, I've seen many little ones fall off and die or abandoned by their parent sparrows!! But there have been success stories also. Nature keeps its balance after all :)

Vijaya Rao - Naraina Vihar, Residential colony Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Marg, Budh Nagar New Delhi Delhi

Sparrows were my daily visitors, actually breakfast companions!! I loved to share my idlis, rotis, or breads with them. During hot days, it was my favourite pasttime to watch a pair or two of sparrows taking a dip bath in the water filled earthen bowl that I used to keep in the balcony for them to drink. Their soft chirping, chatting and sharing their stories with each other in their sweet language was a delight to watch. I miss them very much now.

Vijaya Rao - Ittina Neela Apartments, residential colony Bangalore Karnataka

Despite the fact that this apartment complex was a recent development, sparrows were quick to frequent this area. The surrounding locality is not much developed and there is some greenery/wilderness. There is also an old time village close by where I have seen many sparrows every now and then.

Vijaya Rao - City Market bus stop Narasimharaja Rd, Kalasipalam New Exte, Ranasinghpete Bangalore Karnataka

My observation pertains to the City Market bus stand, which is quite a crowded place. It is part of an old time wholesale market of Bangalore which is always bustling with activity of people, traffic, etc. There is also a mosque close by. Not too much greenery to boast about. I have seen sparrows in clusters of 5-10 every time I visited this place which was quite often in the given time period. I presume nesting could be in the mosque premises, but can't confirm.

Vijaya Rao - Anandnagar residential area, comprising independent houses Anand Nagar, Hebbal Bangalore Karnataka

I like House Sparrows a lot and keep hoping to see them in this area. This residential locality is quite green with trees about 15-20 years old. I've seen other common city birds here but not the Sparrows. Wonder why this place has been devoid of them for so long.
