Village Bhallesa is located in Himalayas bordering HP state in Doda district. Area is well wooded with good forests and small nalla flowing near the village. Good population of sparrows was seen in my recent tour to the area in the month of April 2012 particularly near river bank and Kachha houses and agricultural fields. nesting was also good.

Residential colony Kishtwar Kishtwar Jammu and Kashmir
Kishtwar is remotely situated town along the left bank of river Chenab in deep Himalayas and is now HQ of district Kishtwar. Town is located on high plateau surrounded by mountains. Till Kuchha houses were in the town lot of sparrows were seen but over the period with cemented construction and mobile towers the population started declining. In periphries of town there is relatively good population and the nest are made in the jungle or bushes. Government should take conservation measures to save the sparrows and find out whether there is effect of Mobile towers on the decline of population. Nesting is another big problem for sparrows.

Gandhinagar near Gol Market. Jammu Jammu Jammu and Kashmir
Sparrows were in plenty when houses were made of mud and timber and the nests were commonly seen inside houses. With the urbanization and cemented construction, fans inside houses and no nesting places sparrows started declining in population and the considerable reduction took place when Mobile Towers came.
