c_ravi - Bangalore International Airport Waiting Lounge BIAL Rd Karnataka

Flitting within the airport waiting lounge, chirping over the advertisement panels, pecking at crumbs beneath the tables in the dining area are more sparrows than I have ever seen anywhere else in the city, together at one place. In a quick head count, I spotted 27 females and 16 males.
I shared my samosa crust with them and noticed many other people sharing bread crumbs and roti pieces with the sparrows.
In many cases, the males were bolder than the females. If both a male and female spotted a crumb, even if the female was closer to the crumb, the male would hop over and grab at the crumb, while the female would retreat. I placed a piece of samosa crust at the far end of the small table I was eating at. Two females were looking in my direction when I did it, but both seemed very wary of my presence and did not venture anywhere near the crumb while I was there. A male sitting on the ground, however, immediately pounced on a crumb kept a hand's distance away from my foot.

c_ravi - Srirampura Village, Jakkur Post, Bangalore 560 064 Bangalore Karnataka

People in the village often thresh grain and this spills out from their one-room granaries onto the road. Walking to office in the morning, I have often spotted sparrows pecking at the these grains. Mostly, I remember seeing a pair of sparrows at any given point of time.
