Hi ,
I am staying in Abroad (Abudhabi, UAE) from last 3 years & I was surprised to see a very large number of sparrows in the locality that I live. This shows that Cell phone towers / radiation / urbanisation is not the cause for the less number in Hyderabad. Though the temperature is too hot with high humidity levels and less or no rains, yet the number of sparrows is too high. Was very happy to see my childhood friends in such a big number.Wondering how come and also want to know the reason for the happy go lucky kind birds.

I was 12 yrs old in this period and just grew up among these sweet birds. My day would start with their chirping very early in the morning. My mom didnt need an alarm to wake up.Mom used to put few rice grains in the middle of rangoli in the varandah which was their break fast. We had a well where a huge colony of sparrows used to reside in the holes in between the granite wall of the well.By 6 pm not even a single sparrow was to be seen. Missing those sweet little birds. God Bless Sparrows !!!

Its sad to see the state of sparrows. The number is alarmingly coming down. My kids rarely get to see them. I have made 2 nests with shoe boxes as adviced in the poster. Unfortunately no sparrows have used it till date.The food grains hopefully are eaten by them or any other bird. Long live sparrows !!!
