Around June 2011 after my college was over, I began to leave rice grains and water on the windowsill, for my feathered friends. During the rainy season no sparrows turned up. Later on a couple would come everyday without fail.
By the time it was January, the number had increased to four. Soon in the last week of February and I had to leave to start my career.
By the time it was summer, the number had gone up to 10. They would turn up every morning and "demand" their share of rice grains by chirping continuously. That was such a pleasant "alarm-clock" for my Mother.
She most enthusiastically continues the that I took up and even refers to them as "your kids". :)
