I lived in an apartment in Yelahanka Satellite town, I had a feeder with grains on the balcony railing, so sparrows would always be around. There was a small shelf with a cardboard box in the balcony and they would regularly breed there. This was the case with almost all buildings (around 6) in the vicinity. Also, they were all around inside my school building and garden, in the same area.

In spite of putting grains on my balcony and a bird box on the window at the back of my buildings from the nearly hundred sparrows seen morning and evening not one comes to feed or take refuge in the sparrow house. They prefer to gather in large numbers in the Bougeanvillae bushes or the Mast tree or the Mango tree.

While purchasing groceries item,15 to 20 sparrow use to come to eat the grain kept in the shop.The shopkeeper was very kind and did not shoo away the birds.

its a small home garden, where grains and water are provided everyday. there are also a few fruiting trees like custard apple, papaya and lemon. frequented visitors include sparrows, bulbuls, oriental white eyes and parakeets.
