I miss watching sparrows in around my house. At one time, sparrows were the largest active birds in my home area. Now I don't see them at all.
So when I see them in parks or more areas where there is a dense tree cover.... I actually stand and watch.
Thanks for conducting this survey.

i have sighted sparrows in a group of about 7-9.Once about 3-4 months back i saw a sparrow nest fallen across the footpath 5 meters from the place where i used to see it often.Later could see that it was lil older.. Later i witnessed 2 sparrows flying across the building near by. its next cross road(Gully) next to Vidharthi Bhavan adjacent to its backyard. a small shrub plant is located that is the place where i see them often

I am writing this on behalf of my mother-in-law, Kiran Mishra.
"We moved to this house in Ghaziabad just across the border from Delhi in 2000. Initially, I never noticed any sparrows in the area. There were very few houses in the area in those days and lots of open spaces, but I did not notice sparrows.
After 2 years, they started coming as I put food out regularly every morning, we also had a big garden which attracted many other birds - magpie robin, sunbirds, tailor birds, wren-warbler and even a white-throated kingfisher.
The area was meant to be residential, but slowly over the last 5-8 years it has become completely built up with 3-4 storey buildings, shops etc and there are almost no green spaces left, except for an open park behind our house and the only garden in the area is of my house.
Over the last 2 years, a flock of 30-50 birds comes everyday to my backyard to feed on grain and left-over food and for water."
